At a recent meeting of my book club we started talking about some of our favorite childhood spooky stories. We laughed a lot as we shared memories of scaring ourselves silly with stories, such as the one about the woman with the ribbon always tied around her neck or picking up a hitchhiking ghost on Halloween night.
This inspired a Spooky Story Party, using Halloween stories as an inspiration for a get together. We told more of
our favorite scary stories and enjoyed some delicious treats. Today’s post is about our invitations.
Using four layers of paper we made our invitations. The bottom layer was made using a black/brown shimmer paper. On top of that we added a belt made from a page of a well read book. An orange scalloped edged card was placed on top of that. Finally the invitation was completed with tea stained paper with the important party information. Using tea to stain our paper was an easy way to give our plain white paper an aged and spooky look. The invitations were mailed out in coordinating orange envelopes.
What are some spooky stories you always love to listen to or tell? We’d love to hear!

Anyone would be charmed to get such a nice invitation. Hope you’ll share details on making the fun “spooky” garland. Your blog ideas are great!
